Bio
Kwinten is Assistant Professor at the Physical Geography research unit within the Department of Geography of Ghent University (Belgium). He has expertise in development and evaluation of regional and global climate and weather prediction models, with a focus on clouds and precipitation, cloud radiative transfer and land-atmosphere interactions. He previously held positions in the Atmospheric Processes and Parametrizations Team at the Met Office in the United Kingdom, in the Earth and Life Institute at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium, and in the Atmospheric Sciences Division at the United States Department of Energy Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York. Kwinten currently holds a joint FED-tWIN position at Ghent University and the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium on the ARCHWAy project, focusing on regional climate modelling over Eastern Africa.
