DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY

The department of Geography is part of the Faculty of Sciences of Ghent University. On the interface between exact and social sciences, we focus in our research and education on spatial patterns at the earth surface and the dynamic interaction between environment and society.

A wide variety of theoretical, technical and practical aspects characterizes both the research and the education in our department.

Thanks to the multidisciplinary character of our projects, we are open to national and international collaborations in different domains.

FACILITIES

The department of Geography maintains a wide range of facilities to support both teaching and research. Besides the lecture rooms and libraries provided by the university and faculty, students and staff can use our computer labs including workstations and printers. The computers are equiped with cartographic, geographic, surveying, 3d modelling and analytical software.

Furthermore, a variety of dataware is available for education and research purposes. To distribute maps and research posters, a plotter is at the disposal of our staff. In addition to these general facilities, the following specific research labs and equipment are provided by our department.
