Prof. Dr. Nico Van de Weghe
Nico Van de Weghe is full-time professor in the rank of senior lecturer in Geomatics. He is mainly teaching courses in Geographical Information Science and Geographical Information Technology. Besides this, he is responsible for the Academic Teacher Training Programme for Secondary Education: Geography.
On the one hand, he specialises in Geographical Information Science, with a specific focus on research into moving objects (more specifically representing, analysing and reasoning about moving objects). On the other hand, he has a broad experience in setting up practical experiments in the area of Geographical Information Technology, more specifically with respect to the research of the movement behaviour of persons at crowded places.
Especially in Geographical Information Science, he published several papers in leading journals (e.g. International Journal of Geographical Information Science) and on major conferences (e.g. International Conference on Geographic Information Science (GIScience)).
