Ruben Maddens

Ruben Maddens (°1980, Roeselare) holds a master's degree in Geomatics and Surveying and a masterĂs degree in Applied Informatics, both of which he received from Ghent University. He currently works as an assistant for the Geography Department of Ghent University and as such distributes his time between PhD research and educational activities.

As an assistant he is involved in exercise sessions and student guidance on topics as GIS, geomatics, CAD and informatics.

His research focuses on the link between Qualitative Reasoning and Spatial Cognition. In order to find more human-friendly ways of automated data-handling and communication about moving objects, he tries to find common characteristics between theoretical qualitative models and the distinctions humans make when dealing with movement patterns.
