Pieter Deckers

Pieter Deckers (°1981, Oostende) holds a master degree in Geography (Ghent University) and Applied Informatics (Ghent University). He had a first working experience as a GIS-specialist at the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ). Since 2007, he is working for the CartoGIS-cluster on several projects about flood risk for the Flemish Government. He is involved in methodological research about the calculation of flood risks in Flanders, as well as in the technical implication of this methodology. Therefore, a specific GIS-based software tool was developed for the Flemish Government.
