Study on Formation Mechanism of Mountain Torrent in Kunlun Mountain Area under Mixed Rainfall and Ice

This project includes four main parts: field investigation, data collection, assessment of desertification process and its driving mechanism research. Datasets of vegetation, climate, soil and land-use are collected as indicators for monitoring desertification process and the land sensitivity to desertification. Based on the analytical hierarchy process and the environmentally sensitive area index (ESAI) method, the project surveys the spatio-temporal features of the desertification process and desertification risk. Furthermore, different driving forces were identified for different vegetation types. This project findings aims to promote the protection of the fragile ecological environment in Central Asia.
