Mathias Versichele

Mathias Versichele (°1984, Lokeren) is research assistant at the Department of Geography of Ghent University. He holds a Master degree in Geography (Ghent University) and Environmental Engineering (Ghent University). His PhD research is funded by the Flemish Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT).

Mathias's research focuses on the extraction of information from the movement of objects (such as persons) with added value for various domains such as security, marketing, and urban analysis. Currently, this data is gathered by tracking peoples mobile devices equipped with a discoverable Bluetooth receiver.
