Kristien Schelfaut
Kristien Schelfaut (°1982, Lokeren) holds a Master's degree in Geography (Ghent University). Her PhD. (Baekeland mandate) is funded by the Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT) and deals with intangible social aspects of flooding, such as losses, health effects, inconvenience of post-flood recovery and increased vulnerability of survivors. The PhD. aims at providing an answer how vulnerability and resilience of communities can be considered and applied within effective flood risk management.
