Dr. Wim Kellens

Wim Kellens (°1984, Torhout) is research assistant at the Department of Geography of Ghent University and a research fellow of the CartoGIS Research Group. He holds a Master degree in Geography (Ghent University) with specialization in cartography and GIS. He holds a Master degree in Geography (2006, Ghent University) and a PhD degree in Geography (2011, Ghent University).

Wim's research interests focus on flood risk management with specific attention to the effects of population dynamics on flood risk calculations and the analysis of public risk perceptions. By mapping the concerns, preferences and needs of the public, his research aims at unveiling the necessary information to develop better and more efficient flood risk communication.
